Reheating

Bulk Freezer Cooking- Reheating Instructions:

We get asked “How do I reheat this?” or “What are the reheat instructions?” a lot and I really only have one response to this… it depends.

We know this is less than helpful, but we have had 3 microwaves in the last couple years and each one of them were wildly different at how long and what power reheated a simple burrito.  We would love to just put 2 minutes on high in the instructions, but honestly half of the people would email us to say it’s frozen and the other half would email us to say it’s overcooked.  To make matters worse, with the physics of microwaving items, you have to take into account the size and shape of the item, so every reader’s tupperware or burrito’s would be a little different in size. There just isn’t a simple answer to this.

That being said, our recommendations are to use common sense and experiment.  We found that microwaving something for 2 minutes and seeing where it’s at is a good start.  You can always cut into it, stir it or flip if needed. Bulk freezer cooking is all about trial and error, seeing what works, what freezes, what doesn’t and always, how to reheat it.

Regardless, ALWAYS make sure any dish is reheated to proper temperature just to be on the safe side (with the exception of the PBJ sandwiches of course)!
